Cowls
All flue installations should be terminated accordingly; this means that a cowl (also referred to as a terminal) should be fitted at the top of your installation for the purpose of rain/animal and downdraught prevention, as well as to ensure sufficient dispersal of harmful gases.
There are many different styles/types of terminal available for your installation - all with varying features, purposes and benefits.
Rotating Cowls
Rotating cowls are designed for use on short chimneys, or chimneys with poor draw, to aid the evacuation of flue gases. Both the wind and the heat of the flue gases drive the rotation of the cowl, creating a vortex in the chimney that speeds up the expulsion of harmful gases.
Anti-downdraught Cowl
If your chimney is in an unsheltered area, or has obstructions such as trees that can influence the direction of wind and rain, then you may experience some unexpected downdraught problems - but don't worry, we have a simple solution; our anti-downdraught cowls are the perfect way to combat downdraught problems with minimal effort.
Birdguards
Problems caused by birds or vermin travelling down chimneys are a common occurance, but these problems can be easily eradicated by using a birdguard cowl. Birdguards have a mesh surround that prohibits the entry of birds, vermin or other animals to your chimney, protecting your chimney, stove, and the animal, from harm or damage.
Disused Chimney Cowl
This type of cowl has an incredibly simple purpose; as it's name implies, it fits onto your unused chimney pot to prevent rain and animals (such as birds) from entering, whilst still allowing a small amount of air to penetrate to keep the chimney ventilated.
